Our Towers of Babel

This week in Bible class, we are learning about the Tower of Babel in Genesis. Yesterday, we read the story in class and talked about how the people were trying to become famous and known for a tower that would reach to the heavens. More importantly, this became an idol which took away from the GLORY that God deserved. We also talked about different idols that we have in our lives. For example, silly bandz, friends, books and money.

Following that discussion, the students each received a card with a name or number on it in a different language. The students had to find their match by only saying the word on their card. It gave us a little picture of how confusing it must have been when God decided to bring in all the different languages.

Today, the students had the opportunity to work together to build a Tower of Babel. We used peanut butter and graham crackers. Halfway through, the students could only say the word which was on thier card from yesterday. It caused some confusion and frustration since they could not communicate. Here are some fun pictures!

The boys trying to figure it out.

If a student was caught talking normally, they had to sit out for three minutes. Many students had to, but I caught Stephanie with a sad look. :-(

Many hands make the job easier!

Still building....

The students did a great job on their towers. They even had the chance to eat a little bit. :-) Now lets hope we can remember the important details!
GOD GETS THE GLORY!!
God's purpose: To make Himself famous so that people everywhere will worship HIM!

Also, today was a RAINY Thursday so our recess was inside. Thanks to MRS.MELLETTE, we had a new Veggie Tales movie to watch. I thought they all looked so cozy all bundled up on the "beach". What a blessing to have a warm, dry school.

Have a great night!!
